About Me
Hello I am Simon Kennedy and I'm the owner and chief instructor of SKMountainSkills.
For over 30 years I have been exploring the mountains of the UK, Ireland and further afield. I have been hillwalking in the wilds of the North West of Scotland, Scrambling in North Wales, enjoying the delights that the crags of the UK and Ireland have to offer and sampling some amazing Scottish winter climbing.
This has led me to become an outdoor instructor and I love passing on my passion of the crags and mountains to others. During the last 27 years I have worked on many different and varied courses, including fun sessions with young people, skills training with adults or working on Mountain Training Leadership courses training and assessing future leaders.
I have lived and worked in North Wales, Scotland and although now based in Northern Ireland still run courses in both North Wales and Scotland.
As well as working for myself I also work for others. Both private individuals and also for centres such as Tollymore National Outdoor Centre.
My career as an outdoor instructor has led me to develop a wide range of water and land based qualifications and these include the Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor (MIA) which means I am a full member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors. I am proud to be a member of the AMI and if you would like to see why we do what we do and the benefits of hiring a member of the AMI then please click here to see an amazing video.
Thank you for reading and please get in touch if you are interested in joining me in the mountains or on the crags.
See you out there.

Simon
