What I pack on an Mountain Leader Expedition.

So occasionally I get asked what I carry in my pack on expeditions. I don't set out to carry the smallest/lightest pack and I certainly don't skimp on kit. Especially emergency kit. A lighter pack saves energy and is sooo much nicer to carry though! It also varies on what kind of course I am working on. For example if I am working with young people I would carry more group kit(spare hats, gloves, extra fuel, jelly babies etc etc) than I would on a ML course. This defiantly isn't an exhaustive list! The pack is a Mountain Equipment Tupilak 37+ which more of a climbing pack but I am happy to carry it for this type of work. Why start with a heavy pack before you've even started? I will maybe write a more detailed article on packs. The weather during this expedition was cold and so Im carrying more warm gloves, warmer sleeping bag and thicker sleeping mat. Don't forget a few luxuries. Camping is supposed to be fun after all!!
